Family Mentor – Full Time  (New)

£15,807 p.a.

Do you know what it’s like to be a parent or maybe a grandparent?

Could you support other parents with babies and young children as part of our Family Mentoring Service in Bulwell?

We are looking for a full time person to join our well-established and successful Family Mentor team.

Family Mentors work with families to increase their confidence and abilities by offering support, friendship and practical help. You will visit families in their own homes and, whilst respecting their dignity and identity, emphasise and promote the positive aspects of family life, developing a relationship with the family, sharing time with them, encouraging their parental strengths and emotional well-being and use of support services available in the community at large.

Family Mentors also run group activities which families attend in local community venues.

If you have energy, drive and a genuine passion for working alongside people in the community we want to hear from you. It’s vital that we have the right person for the role and to make this judgement you will be required to attend a two-day assessment in Nottingham on 14 and 15 March 2018.

Full training will be given in all aspects of the role to the successful candidate.

Applications close at 1pm on Wednesday 28 February 2018.

Applications will only be considered on our Application Form – contact Andy on 0115 9753898 at The Toy Library or email for an Application Pack. No CVs or agencies please.

This post is subject to a full criminal background check in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.

Volunteers are welcome at the Toy Library as they bring us new skills and perspectives and boost our contact with the local community we serve.  We can offer opportunities over a broad age range and cover both indoor and outdoor play.  As a volunteer you can expect to have a valued role in our organisation.  We expect all staff to work positively with volunteers and actively involve them in their work.

Many of our staff began as volunteers. Plus of course, volunteering with children is fun, rewarding and there’s never a dull moment.  Whether you have just a few hours every few weeks or can make a regular commitment to us at a session, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t necessarily need experience but you will be asked to an informal meeting with a member of staff and be subject to a criminal background check which we will arrange and pay for.   We will tell you everything you need to know when you come and see us.

To find out more about any of opportunities to get involved call us on 0115 975 3898
