Work With Us

The Toy Library is a fun and inspiring place to work, whether its a paid role or volunteering opportunity you’re looking for. We’re a friendly and professional team and you can be sure of a very warm welcome and plenty of help and support throughout your time with us.

Our work with children usually operates on a sessional basis at creches, after-school clubs and school holiday programmes around Nottingham though it could take you further afield if you want it to.  Because the work is sessional, you can decide whether to say yes or no.  We’d love you to say yes to all the work we put your way, but fully understand that you may have other things going on in your life as well. Many of our sessional staff enjoy working this way and find that working at the Toy Library can fit around other commitments.

If you would like to join our team of sessional workers and have at least an NVQ Level 2 in Childcare or Play Work we’d love to hear from you.

We will be at two events in Nottingham in September (the Nottingham Jobs Fair on Wednesday 13th September at the Motorpoint Arena and the Nottingham City Homes  Fun Day on Saturday 16th September at Bulwell Academy.  Toy Library staff will be happy to talk about what we do and how you could join us as a sessional worker.

Volunteers

Volunteers are welcome at the Toy Library as they bring us new skills and perspectives and boost our contact with the local community we serve.  We can offer opportunities over a broad age range and cover both indoor and outdoor play.  As a volunteer you can expect to have a valued role in our organisation.  We expect all staff to work positively with volunteers and actively involve them in their work.

Many of our staff began as volunteers. Plus of course, volunteering with children is fun, rewarding and there’s never a dull moment.  Whether you have just a few hours every few weeks or can make a regular commitment to us at a session, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t necessarily need experience but you will be asked to an informal meeting with a member of staff and be subject to a criminal background check which we will arrange and pay for.   We will tell you everything you need to know when you come and see us.
