Services for professionals

The Bulwell Community Toy Library has been around for over 30 years. We began life as a toy library but our services have grown to give families a huge variety of help and support. We also provide a range of services for professionals including midwives, health visitors, GPs, childminders, schools and groups from the voluntary and community sector. In a nutshell, we aim to boost children’s development, learning and wellbeing through play, and are here to help anyone who works with children and young people.

Our services for professionals include:

Affordable toy packs

Aimed at childminders and anyone who runs play activities for children aged from 0 to 11 years, our toy pack service means you can borrow fun, educational toys and games at an affordable cost. We can tailor toy packs to suit the specific needs of the children in your care, including toy packs for children with physical or learning disabilities. You can change your toy pack as often as you like, giving children a fresh, exciting, varied way to play.

Specialist speech and language support for children

If you’re worried about a child who isn’t talking, our NHS-supported Language Through Toys and Play service could be the answer. It’s been running for over 10 years and uses play to encourage children to talk and communicate, especially those with mild speech and language difficulties. Our approach involves experienced staff working with families in their own homes, which has proved highly successful. Children are usually referred to us by their Health Visitor, GP or speech therapist.

Mobile crèche service

If you work in the public or voluntary and community sector and run activities for parents with young children our mobile crèche service is for you! Providing a crèche is a great way to encourage parents to join in with your organisation, group or activity. So how does it work? As long as the location is suitable, we’ll come to you and set up a crèche, including qualified, experienced staff, equipment, toys and games. The mobile crèche service has been developed in line with Ofsted guidance and costs from just £33 per hour. We can even tailor the crèche to suit your specific requirements including providing a crèche for children with physical or learning disabilities.
