Start of Sessions
Following the summer holidays all of our sessions will be restarting and running as usual from the week beginning 13th September 2010.
Annual General Meeting
Our Annual General Meeting will be held this year on
24th September 2010
at 9.30am
Top Valley Community Centre (next to Tesco)
We hold this meeting every year to give all of our members and partners a chance to come and find out what we have been doing and to elect our Board of Trustees. It is also a legal requirement that we do this.
This is an important time for the Toy Library, we face difficult times but also have some exciting ideas and opportunities which we will be presenting at the meeting.
If you can make it we will be very pleased to see you.
We’ll probably have cakes as well if that helps…..
The Toy Library is not Closing!
If you read the article in the Evening Post on Thursday 26th August and are concerned that we are about to close……… Don’t worry! We are not under any immediate threat.
We know that the City Council has to look for ways to make huge cuts in its budgets next year. The Grant aid budget will be one of the places that they will look to make savings. We sent a press release to the Post to highlight the fact that although the City Council gives us £61,500 each year, we raise another £140,000 on top of that which means that our services in Bulwell are very good value for money.
The point we are making is that they shouldn’t see our grant as a target to cut because they could lose over £200,000 in services for the sake of that £61,500.
So don’t worry, yet. We will keep all of our members informed of any developments.

Bulwell Hall Park Play Area
Big Family Picnic event on Saturday 17th July!
At the back of the Toy Library building the new play area has been installed and is already being well used by children and families. Apart from a temporary problem with new turf it appears to be a great success. There are hardly any times of day when there aren’t some children enjoying it, families with young ones during the school day and then it fills up when the older ones come out of school. During the warm weather it has had a lovely family feel to it with crowds of all ages using it till late in the evening.
Something that has been very noticeable is the lack of any vandalism or bad behaviour despite the numbers and wide age range of children using it. Lets hope this continues to be the case.
There is to be a Big Family Picnic to launch the park on Saturday 17th July from 11.00am to 3.00 and we will be involved in that. There will be loads to do for all ages, sports, bouncy castle, fancy dress competition, costume making, circus skills, wellie wanging and much more…..
