our warm welcome

The regularity, localness, and friendliness of our play sessions enable a community of families to be built. Friendships between parents allow peer support to be offered and received and mean that the results of the toy library last throughout the week. Families with more pressing needs receive support from less needy families and that allows us to help a large number of parents for a relatively small cost . The fact that we work consistently for years (rather than always starting and stopping new projects and new staff) allows us to build relationships with and empower parents over years. Our staff and volunteers are trained to ' signpost ' and 'handhold' families to specialised support such as parenting classes, medical services and social services when issues arise or are discussed beyond our skills.

In 2005 two hundred and thirty parents accessed our services more than twenty times.
