Language through toys & play

In the Bulwell and Clifton many children have speech and language problems that mean they are behind when they start school. Our Language through toys and play (LTTP) team visit homes and run groups in schools and community centres to improve the language skills of 2,3 and 4 year olds. They are referred by health professionals, teachers or parents. The problem can be genetic or linked to lack of stimulation in the home or isolation of the family due to post-natal depression of parents. Visits are up to weekly for up to 2 years - helping the child and increasing the confidence and skill of the parent. Our preventative home-based work complements the work of the speech and language therapy team with which we work closely.
