The Bulwell Community Toy Library was established way back in 1979 by local people. Over 30 years later, we’re still supporting local people and we’re still an independent organisation, run by volunteer trustees who give their time for free.
Affordable toys for families & professionals
We began life as a toy library and today we offer a choice of over 3,000 toys and games, available for families to borrow for just a few pence. Our range includes toys and games for children of all ages and from all ethnic backgrounds. Plus, we provide toys and games for children with physical or learning disabilities.
If you work with children you’re also very welcome to borrow toys and games from us. For a small charge we’ll deliver a pack of fun, educational toys and games handpicked to suit the children in your care, which you can change as often as you like.
Activities for all ages
In recent times, our services have grown to provide families with extra help and support. For example, we provide affordable play sessions for babies and toddlers together with after school and holiday clubs for older children.
We’re also here to provide one-to-one support if you have any concerns about your child or parenting in general. For instance, perhaps you’re worried that your child isn’t talking as well as you think they should be for their age, or you’re finding it difficult coping with your new baby.
Our friendly, experienced, down-to-earth staff are always here to help and are even happy to visit you at home if you prefer.
We provide a range of services for professionals including midwives, health visitors, childminders and community groups, including an affordable mobile crèche service.
In a nutshell, we boost children’s development, learning and wellbeing through play, to give them the best childhood possible.
